Today I want to share with you something that I believe is crucial to success in our goals and our lives.
I’ve used it to become an entrepreneur as well to build my expertise in nutrition so that Best of You could be possible.
I also think it applies to many, many people with their health and fitness goals.
And it could also help you .
It has to do with your mindset, which is a POWERFUL tool no matter what you’re up against.
As Theodore Roosevelt put it, “believe you can and you’re halfway there.”
When we commit our minds to knowing something is possible, the thing BECOMES possible.
But I want to take it one step further and say, it is more than just about believing it is possible.
So what I have to say instead is this:
Believe you already ARE, and you’re pretty much there.
What does this mean?
Well, if you want something to be yours, be the version of yourself that has already achieved it.
Completely embody your goal and your desire in your mind, and reality will follow.
At first this might sound a little new-age like one of those “manifestation” pep talks, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth.
Because the application is SUPER practical in almost everything we want to do.
Take this far-out example and see for yourself:
This is a story about two individuals who wanted to be painters.
On one hand was Tyler, a corporate accountant who always yearned to paint. In his free time he would read books about painting, watch tutorials about painting, and talk about painting.
But despite all the things he knew about painting, he never got down to it because busy life got in the way.
On the other hand was Linda, a lawyer.
Practically speaking, she wasn’t selling any paintings as a professional painter. She was just a hobbyist.
But that didn’t matter, because she was already living the life of a painter. Every day she would wake up in the morning at 7am and dedicate a full hour to her craft before going to work. And every day when she came home, she picked up her favorite brush and kept on going.
Because she knew that professional painters weren’t sitting around yearning to paint — they were ACTUALLY painting.
Fast forward to a few years later…
Tyler was now at a different accounting job, and he’d absorbed an impressive and vast knowledge about proper painting technique. He felt confident that if he could just find the time to paint, he would paint something fantastic.
Linda had completed 17 paintings the past few years, and somewhere along the way she began selling them. She had a website with her portfolio, and her friends and family now recognized her as a professional painter.
So what did Tyler and Linda do?
Tyler kept yearning to be a painter.
And Linda kept painting.
The only difference was, from then on, Linda wasn’t doing it as a hobbyist. She was, as she always was in her mind, a professional painter.
So , what does this story have to do with us?
The same mindset can apply even if we’re trying to do something different from painting.
If we want to be fit and healthy, we can be like Tyler. We can know almost EVERYTHING there is to know about nutrition, proper exercise routines for our body types, and how to use these to lose weight.
We can know all this, and we can still be yearning to be fit and healthy.
Tylers are the people who will inquire about Best of You, but never sign up because they think they already know how to achieve their goals.
Tylers tend to stay the same for the rest of their lives. They never get to the version of themselves that is confident, radiating with health, and fully content with themselves.
So you know what ?
I say we all embody the same mindset as Linda.
If we want to be fit and healthy, we should think that we already ARE fit and healthy no matter where we’re starting from.
This means we should live our lives according to this belief, mirroring the lifestyle of people who are fit and healthy.
What does this mean concretely?
Well, it means we’re feeling happy with our bodies. We’re exercising regularly. We’re not eating processed foods that slow us down. We are following Best of You protocol from DAY ONE with no exceptions.
Imagine a pro athlete. What’s their discipline like? There you go.
My guarantee is that when you do this — when you live according to the version of yourself that already HAS your goal — then the rest will naturally follow.
Try this, .
Picture yourself a few months from now, on a day where you’ve achieved your transformation.
How do you look? What are you wearing? What had you eaten for breakfast? What was your workout that day? And what have you prepped for dinner?
And then BE that version of yourself today.
That’s your plan.
The magic that results from this simple exercise is astounding.
