The Importance of Putting Yourself First [transformation story]

As busy moms and caregivers, it’s easy to put ourselves last on the priority list.  We rush around caring for our kids, partners, parents, plus work obligations, often sacrificing our own needs. I see this a lot in the women who join Best of You, and I love helping them take care of themselves so they can turn around and take care of others.  This was Nathalie’s story. As a busy mom of two young kids, Nathalie felt like she was doing everything right – eating salads, working out on her Peloton… But she still struggled with exhaustion and was snacking at night. Though Nathalie looked healthy on the outside, she knew she needed an internal transformation.  Her mind felt foggy, affecting her ability to run her business and be fully present with her family. After searching online and talking to other moms, Nathalie discovered the Best of You program.  The holistic approach focusing on mindset, nutrition and fitness made sense to her.  She quickly booked a call. Over 5 months in the program, Nathalie lost 20 pounds! Take a look at her amazing transformation! Phenomenal, right? More importantly though, she regained mental clarity and energy.  Nathalie says she now “radiates” confidence when she enters a room. She learned how to advocate for herself and make healthy choices even while traveling and on family vacations.  Nathalie can enjoy experiences to the fullest with her newfound energy. Her transformation even motivated her husband to start running and sign up for a half marathon.  Nathalie’s habits indirectly influenced her whole family’s lifestyle. Her story shows that you don’t have to wait for the perfect time to make a change. Even as busy moms and caregivers, taking care of ourselves needs to be a priority. We’re so proud of Nathalie for achieving such inspiring results through the Best of You program!

How to Deal With Weight Loss Plateaus

Ever wonder why your weight won’t budge even though you’re doing everything right? You may be dealing with a common mistake called the “weight loss plateau.” A weight loss plateau happens when your body adjusts to your routine. Yes, it’s frustrating. But here’s how you can break through it. First, change up your exercise routine. Your body gets used to the same old workouts. Try adding new exercises or increasing intensity. Next, look at what you’re eating. Even healthy foods can have hidden calories. Sometimes, you might be eating more than you think. Keep a food diary for a week. You’ll see where you can make small changes. Also, drink more water. Sounds simple, right? But staying hydrated helps your body run better. It can even make you feel full, so you eat less. Lastly, don’t stress too much. Stress can mess with your weight. Take time to relax and do things you enjoy. Remember, breaking through a plateau is all about small tweaks. Change your routine, watch your food, drink water, and relax. Before you know it, you’ll start seeing progress again. Keep going ! You’re stronger than you think.

Why Your Workout Might Not Be Working Anymore

Making real progress on your weight loss and fitness journey can be hard, but it doesn’t have to be. One common mistake many people make is doing the same workouts every week without changing things up. While routines are great for consistency, your body can get used to them. When your body is used to certain exercises, it stops being as effective. This means fewer calories burned and slower weight loss progress. If you want to see better results, try mixing up your exercises. Add different activities like swimming, hiking, or even dancing. Besides being fun, new activities can surprise your body and wake up different muscles. If you usually run, try cycling or weightlifting. If you normally do yoga, throw in some cardio or a HIIT session. Your body needs different challenges to keep improving. It’s not about doing more; it’s about doing different. Change your workout routine every few weeks. Not only will this help you avoid a fitness plateau, but it will also keep things interesting and fun. You’ll stay motivated and excited about your fitness journey. So, remember to switch things up regularly. Your body will thank you with better results. Stay active and keep pushing forward—you got this!

Why Willpower Isn’t Everything

Willpower alone won’t help you lose weight. It’s a common misconception. Many people believe that if they just had more willpower, they could achieve their fitness and nutrition goals. But willpower is like a muscle. It gets tired when overused. Think about it: You’ve had a long day, sticking to your meal plan, and suddenly, a craving hits. It’s hard to resist. That’s because your willpower is drained. This isn’t your fault. Relying solely on willpower sets you up for frustration. But there’s a better way. Instead of just depending on willpower, use strategies to make your environment work for you. Keep healthy snacks within reach. Plan your meals ahead of time. Avoid bringing tempting junk food into your home. These simple changes make it easier to stay on track. When you plan and prepare, you don’t need to rely as much on willpower. This doesn’t mean willpower is useless. It just means you don’t have to rely on it all the time. Building healthy habits is like setting up autopilot for your mind. Remember, making small changes adds up. It’s about creating an environment where making the right choices becomes easier. You’re not alone in this journey. With the right strategies, reaching your weight loss and fitness goals becomes achievable.

The Secret to Smarter Weight Loss

One big mistake many people make when trying to lose weight is focusing only on the number on the scale. It’s easy to get obsessed with seeing that number drop. But here’s the thing: weight isn’t the only measure of success. When you only look at the scale, you might miss other important signs that your healthy habits are working. You could be losing fat and gaining muscle. You could be getting stronger and feeling more energetic. These are all great signs of progress! So, instead of getting upset when the scale doesn’t budge, pay attention to other clues. Notice how your clothes fit. See if you feel more energetic. Track your fitness improvements, like being able to run longer or lift heavier weights. These are just as important, if not more so, than the number on the scale. Also, remember that weight can fluctuate for many reasons. It can go up due to water retention, hormones, or even after a workout. These fluctuations don’t mean you aren’t making progress. Stay focused on your healthy habits. Eating well, staying active, and taking care of yourself will show results over time. It’s not just about losing weight. It’s about feeling your best. So, keep going, stay positive, and celebrate all the little victories along the way.

A Simple Fix For Better Weight Loss Results

Picture this: You’ve been eating right, working out regularly, but still not seeing the results you want. It’s frustrating, right? A common mistake many make is ignoring the importance of sleep. Yes, sleep. You might think nutrition and exercise are the only things that matter for weight loss and fitness. But lack of sleep can mess up your progress. When you don’t sleep enough, your body makes more of a hormone called ghrelin. Ghrelin makes you feel hungry. At the same time, lack of sleep lowers another hormone called leptin. Leptin tells your brain you’re full. So, less sleep means more hunger and less fullness. That’s why it’s easy to eat more than you need if you’re sleep-deprived. Plus, when you’re tired, working out feels like a huge chore. You’re more likely to skip it or not give your best effort. Here’s what to do instead: Aim for 7-9 hours of good sleep each night. Make it a priority like you would with your meals and workouts. Create a bedtime routine. Turn off screens an hour before bed. Read a book or take a warm bath to relax. Stick to a regular sleep schedule, even on weekends. You’ll find you have more energy, better control over your hunger, and better workout performance. All these lead to better weight loss and fitness results. So, tonight, get some quality sleep and watch the magic happen.

Why Self-Doubt Can Be Good For You

Ever felt a pang of self-doubt? You might think it’s a bad thing. But guess what? Self-doubt can actually be good for you. Here’s why. When you doubt yourself, it pushes you to try harder. You’re more likely to double-check your choices, work a bit more, and improve your skills. This makes you more careful and helps you grow stronger. Let’s imagine you’re doing a workout. If you doubt you can lift that extra weight, you’ll be more cautious. You’ll take time to warm up properly, and you might ask for a spotter. In the end, you’ll do it safely and with more confidence. In the same way, self-doubt in your transformation helps you spot your limits and work on them. It makes you think, “How can I be better?” This way, you’re always learning and becoming fitter. Self-doubt also means you’re more open to learning. When you question yourself, you’re more likely to seek advice, read more, or try new things. This keeps your fitness routine fresh and exciting. Next time you feel self-doubt creeping in, welcome it. Remember, it’s not here to break you, but to push you to new heights. Feel that doubt, then use it to make yourself even better. Keep going!

The Hidden Pitfalls of “Healthy” Choices

It sounds strange, but sometimes good things can actually hold you back. Ever feel like you’re making all the right choices, but not seeing the progress you want in your fitness and weight loss journey? It could be that some of those “good” choices aren’t as helpful as you think. Let’s talk about fruit juice. A lot of people think that drinking fruit juice is a healthy option. It sounds like a great way to get vitamins and stay hydrated. But most fruit juices are packed with sugar. Even if it’s natural sugar, it can spike your blood sugar levels and then cause a crash. This can make you feel tired and hungry again quickly. Instead, opt for whole fruits. They have more fiber and nutrients, helping you feel full longer without the sugar rush. Another example is granola. It’s marketed as a healthy breakfast option, but many store-bought granolas are full of added sugars and unhealthy fats. Look for granolas with no added sugar. Or better yet, make your own at home with oats, nuts, and a touch of honey or fresh fruit. Eating salads is another smart choice, but watch out for dressings. Some are loaded with extra calories. A simple swap to a homemade olive oil and vinegar dressing can make a big difference. So, before you pat yourself on the back for making those ‘good’ choices, take a closer look. These small tweaks can help you see better results and feel better overall. Every better choice adds up to a healthier, happier you.  P.S. Why Small Changes Can Lead to Big Results

Many women make a common mistake when starting a fitness journey:  Setting unrealistic goals too quickly. This often leads to frustration and burnout. It’s easy to think that you need to make drastic changes all at once. But small, consistent changes are more effective in the long run. Try focusing on one area at a time. For instance, start by improving your diet. You can add more veggies to each meal. Then move on to incorporating more physical activity into your daily routine. Maybe start with a 15-minute walk each day. The key is to create habits you can stick to. Another common mistake is neglecting rest and recovery. Your body needs time to heal and grow stronger. Try to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep every night. And don’t forget to have rest days between intense workouts. Listening to your body helps prevent injuries and keeps you motivated. Lastly, remember that progress takes time. Celebrate small victories along the way. Lost a pound?  Managed to run a bit longer than last week? These small wins add up to big changes over time. By avoiding the pitfall of unrealistic goals and focusing on small, manageable changes, you’ll build a sustainable, healthy lifestyle. Keep pushing forward, and trust the process. You’ve got this! P.S. If you think you need a little extra guidance on the right foods for your body and what workouts would be best, then let’s have a conversation and see if Best of You is the missing piece in your transformation puzzle.
